Fayya Integrated Development Organization (FIDO) has launched a new humanitarian intervention, Emergency WASH response, for internally displaced people (IDPs) sheltered in East Wollega Zone three woredas Guto Gida, Gida Ayana and Haro Limmu as of December 1, 2018. FIDO has partnered with International Rescue Committee (IRC) for this intervention and granted 349,991 USD by USAID/OFDA through IRC. The intervention focuses on emergency WASH services which comprises of water tracking to IDPs, hygiene promotion and sanitary activities. It has planned to supply water for 3 months, construct 63 communal latrines, construct 25 solid waste disposal pits, distribution of non-food items and other activities.
Staff has been recruited and deployed to the area and commodities are on pipeline. Situation is being assessed and specific IDP sites are being selected.
It is to be recalled that many people were displaced from Kamash zone of Benishagul Gumuz region, when ethnic clash broke in the area.
