Fayyaa Integrated Development Organization (FIDO)
Fayyaa Integrated Development Organization (FIDO) is an Ethiopian resident charity organization established in the year 2002 by Ethiopian volunteers in Jimma zone. FIDO has a vision to see Ethiopians who have equal opportunity for health, education, development and wellbeing and working to contribute for the fulfillment of its dream through partnership and empowerment. The governing body of the organization is the general assembly composed of community members, professionals from various fields, and individuals working in the public sectors. The board of directors composed of very experienced and concerned professionals, is the responsible body assigned by the general assembly to oversee and monitor the overall operations of the organization.
Since its establishment, FIDO has been actively engaged emphasizing on community health, education , livelihood, women empowerment, child care and support including community based and sponsorships, and youth development programs/projects and other relief supports in collaboration with government and various non-government organizations. In terms of geographic coverage the organization is mandated to operate in all regions of the country and have practical experiences implementing different projects and programs in Oromia, South Nation Nationality People, Somali, Gambella and Addis Ababa regions. Currently, FIDO has 4 field coordination and 44 project offices in SNNP and Oromiaregion. The organization has a total of 186 staffs (112 males and 74 female) with educational background ranging from MSc/MPH and BSc/BA, to Diploma in health, social science and community development fields.10, 320 Volunteers (female) are also working with the organization in various programs/projects.
In general, FIDO has ample experience working on Health, education, development and wellbeing, and relief supports in country. In terms of capacity, it has strong program and financial management system in place. The program department has M&E section which coordinates relevant activities of projects (planning, monitoring, evaluation, supportive supervision, and mentoring, reporting, and documentation of promising and best practices) There are well experienced and qualified program staffs in the organization who can manage different projects/programs. To ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staffs, primary stakeholders, FIDO has child protection and safeguarding policy, gender and inclusion policies. Moreover, the organization has developed information management policies and M&E framework.
The finance and administration section has also very strong system in place. FIDO has separate finance, procurement, and cost share policies. In addition, the organization has skilled and experienced staffs and also applies Peachtree software to track and monitor the progress of financial utilization. The organization provide due care and attention to operate in standard accounting procedures and as per law of the land. Moreover, there is a strong documentation system in place. The organization also has property management policy. There have been regular annual audits conducted by known audit firms since its establishment. Moreover, A133 audit has been conducted on all completed USAID funded programs and projects as one of the requirement. Thus, FIDO has ample experience in managing USAID funds. As indicated in the summary of projects here below, FIDO has managed direct fund from USAID Washington. In terms of logistics, the organization has policy and good capacity.
